Vietnam has 3000-plus kilometers of coastlines and numerous stunning tropical islands, which are many travelers’ dreams. Below are 10 of the most beautiful islands in Vietnam:
Ba Lua Archipelago
Located in the Gulf of Thailand, Ba Lua Archipelago consists of 3 main islands and many other smaller ones. Here, you will have the chance to catch some snails and enjoy them right away.
The most fantastic thing you may find in Ba Lua is when the water level reduces low enough, you can even walk from one island to the other without needing a buoy or any other safety equipment. Of course, having water surrounding us will make you feel a bit scared and a bit excited at the same time. But the fun does not stop there. You may even find yourself alone on a small island if you are lucky. You are a valid island owner, then.
Binh Hung Island
This is one of Vietnam’s most underdeveloped, less-visited, and pristinely beautiful islands. Although there are few tourism facilities here, couples and groups of friends will love Binh Hung because there are few people here. But not only is the sand clean, but the water is also so clear you can even see the seabed.
Nam Du Island
Like two previous islands in Vietnam, it belongs to Kien Giang Province; tourism is also very new to Nam Du Island. Thus, you can feel untouched natural beauty and many cheap accommodations with great value. You will also be welcomed by the locals, who are very friendly and aware of protecting the environment. That’s why Nam Du can still keep its pure natural beauty.
Cu Lao Cham
Cu Lao Cham, or Cham Island, is only 15 kilometers away, including 8 islands. There are many plantations and orchids on the islands. You can also participate in various outdoor activities such as beach volleyball, hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, and tenting with friends. This is an excellent beach and island destination for Danang or Hoi An travelers. You can visit Cu Lao Cham for a day or stay 1 or 2 nights here.
Binh Ba Island
Binh Ba Island is 15 kilometers from the coastline of Cam Ranh Bay; the weather here is most beautiful throughout the year. Plus, the cost of the transfer and eating is relatively low. All you need to do is enjoy the warm sea breeze with a stomach full of seafood, with lobster the most well-known delicacy.
Binh Ba is also famous for several places’ sensational sunrise and sunset opportunities.
Phu Quy Island (Cu Lao Thu)
The small island of Phu Quy Island, or Cu Lao Thu, is only 120 kilometers from the coast of Phan Thiet. People have inhabited this island for hundreds of years. While Binh Ba is famous for lobsters, Phu Quy is famous for crabs. While here, don’t forget to visit teacher Nai’s grave to learn about the island’s early history. And the coastal rides here have to rank as one of the best in Southeast Asia.
Co To Island
This is the only island that belongs to the Northern half of Vietnam. The best way to explore the island is by bike. Places to visit are Co To Lighthouse, Bac Van Port, and of course, Co To Con (Small Co To), an island where nobody lives. In the early morning, you can also wake up early to catch the sunrise or go to the morning market to buy seafood and enjoy them in a BBQ dinner by the beach later in the day. Only a few islands are as lovely as Co To in Northern Vietnam.
Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc is Vietnam’s new “star” destination on the world’s travel map. The most oversized island of the country sees its name appear in many World’s Top 10, including one of the top 3 most beautiful destinations for traveling in winter by National Geographic. Beaches here, like Bai Sao (Star Beach) or Bai Dai (Long Beach), are considered as beautiful as any other beaches in Thailand. Apart from the fantastic natural beauty on the sea and the land, Phu Quoc possesses everything you can expect from a perfect beach holiday, from sumptuous seafood to underwater sports and hotels and resorts for all classes, from budget to luxury.
Ly Son Island (Cu Lao Re)
The name Ly Son Island has only recently emerged as an exciting travel destination in Vietnam. However, the history of Ly Son started a long time ago. The island now is the remains of an active volcano from millions of years ago. This is why you will admire some bizarrely beautiful formations here, the most famous of which is the natural gate of To Vo. In addition, Ly Son is renowned for its numerous garlic plantations and cave temple.
Con Dao Archipelago
Although it is pretty expensive to get to Con Dao (you need to be in Ho Chi Minh City to take an additional flight to Con Dao Island), your beach holiday here will be worth it all. And although the island welcomed many resorts in recent years, its pure natural beauty is still kept intact. Visiting Con Dao will also allow you to enjoy world-class scuba diving, from beginners to experts.
Also, don’t forget to take some time and visit the historic site of the old Con Dao Island, a place that used to be known as “Heaven on Earth.” And what else can be better than a stay at the Six Senses Con Dao, where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt used to spend their holiday?
